Resources & Tools

Inspired by a piece of advice from Le Chic Cocoon's author, Jennifer Duchene, what separates an arts + crafts enthusiast and an entrepreneur is whether or not they run an organized businessThere's nothing wrong either.  Both hobbyists (like a lot of us) who dabble here and dabble there and those who make a living through their craft (like amazing artist, Kara T. or Jennifer Duchene) each have our their own set of priorities.

That said, our Etsy team and the resources below provide tools to arts + crafts enthusiasts who wish to develop their business savvy and focus on becoming more of an entrepreneur.

Basic Business Planning Tools (helpful links):

BUSINESS PLAN:

A business development plan will help us understand which aspect of our businesses need to be improved, how, and create measurable action steps we can plan for ourselves on our business calendars.

Let's make this plan as simple for everyone as possible by focusing on one of seven topics at a time.

TOPICS 1-7:

1. Specific business goals (2012-2013)
2. Changes/Evolution to improve current biz plan
3. Understanding customer needs
4. Solutions to customer needs
5. Better sales & marketing
6. Coaching/Critique/Business resources
7. Complete/implement/share a finalized business plan

We asked some of our respected mentors what the differences are between someone who makes arts & crafts vs. someone who is an entrepreneur.

We agree with Ms. Jennifer Duchene's POV: If you're running a business like a business then, you're more of an entrepreneur.

That said, do you have a business plan? Do you have a process?

We hope to provide some good resources to help with that.
