Art Therapy – Just
another pretty picture? Or is it something more?
The benefits of art therapy are numerous. In addition to the
usual applications of artistic expression, being creative can help lower blood
pressure, relieve tension, quiet the mind, increase openness to new ideas, and
even improve social skills. In moments of high stress, working with something
tactile and creative can have a calming effect, and even improve self-awareness
and verbal self-expression. And the best part is that many of these benefits
can be experienced outside of a formal therapeutic setting.*
So, what does art
therapy have to do with the corporate world?
We live and work in what can often feel like an ever-faster
paced world. Professional environments are no exception, and the tension we
experience each day at work can cause us to feel physically, mentally and
emotionally drained if we don’t find healthy ways to relieve stress. While many
turn to regular exercise or meditation, artistic expression is another way in
which we can relax our minds and learn to see the world around us in a new way.
Clearing your head can actually be quite productive – “down times” are often when
the best and most creative ideas are able to surface.
Join our upcoming artistic workshops/networking events!
Our goal is to make the mental health benefits of artistic expression more
accessible to non-artists, and especially to those in the corporate world. We
provide a casual, relaxed setting in which artists and business professionals
can socialize and explore their creative sides using a variety of artistic
media. This is a great way to network with other professionals and exercise the visually creative side of your mind.
A balanced mind is an effective mind.
